Twelve Cupcakes And A Double Movie Date

Been quite some time since I have been on a real date with 자기야, probably because we are basically dating everyday considering the fact that we work together. And while it may seem a good thing to be able to see your boyfriend everyday, better than boyfriends whose whereabouts are often unknown (yes, I have dated someone like that), it does have its downside also.

We got lazy :( Lazy to plan for date nights. Lazy to be oh-so-romantic. It has even become hard for us to decide on what to eat. Sigh. What's worse, dates have become rather expensive these days. Even a simple breakfast of eggs and toast can cost up to MYR20 :(

But luck got on my side one night when out of boringness, I stumbled upon the Maxis Rewards app again in my phone. Why again? Coz I had it in my phone for a while now ever since Maxis sent an email notifying me about this app. And I had used it to redeem two Buy One Free One TGV Cinemas movie tickets before this.

 Maxis Rewards

Well.. even though Maxis' data connection sucks once in awhile and I have made several complaints through Twitter, undeniably the deals in this app has really helped me in saving quite a bit. And through the night, I have downloaded quite a few passes. But of course I wouldn't missed out the TGV movie tickets deal again since its promo end date is 31st March. Hehe.

Two movies, two persons for the price of MYR20 only. On weekends somemore. Never mind that we were unable to snuggle on a couple seat like we usually do :P Normally a standard seat ticket alone will cost MYR16 each. So we managed to save MYR44 on movie tickets :D

Started off with the movie Need For Speed, which was all about cars, speed and races as deduced from the movie title itself. Movie plot was pretty predictable, hence other than admiring those beautiful and powerful cars, nothing much to shout about for me except that I've learnt of some new models of Ferrari and Lamborghini that are different from the ones I usually see on the street. And I love the white Hummer! 자기야 said it appeared just to be banged. Lol. I m so goin to own one one day. Definitely.

As for 300: Rise Of An Empire, only one word to describe: VIOLENT. But somehow as violent as it was, I seriously believed the movie was too violent until the extent that my fear was nowhere to be found during the whole movie. Nevertheless, I was in awe of the CGI that was considerably flawless and truly admirable. Both movies are some of 자기야's favourite genres hence he should have more valid comments than me. Lol.

And.. I finally got to buy Jamie Teo and Daniel Ong's Twelve Cupcakes! Been following their Twitter regularly, knew that they were expandin to Malaysia but not sure when and where until I first saw it at Sunway Pyramid. Hesitated and ended up not buyin. Saw another branch again at One Utama and didn't buy it too. Until this time, finally bought it with Maxis Rewards deal; Buy Two Free One. So three cupcakes for the price of MYR12 :)

 Twelve Cupcakes

Pretty Much?
Top: Cookies and Cream; Middle: Red Velvet; Bottom: Chocolate Chocolate

Instagrammed the pic and also tagged Jamie and Dan, was so surprised when Jamie replied. Nice to know that she's friendly :) And the cupcakes are delish! The cakes were so soft and when combined with the topping, the sweetness was just nice. Perfect for me, as I m not someone who fancy really sweet stuff. Some other cupcakes I had tried before this were really sweet.

So in between the movies, we walk walk around, bought the cupcakes and also Juice Works. Maxis Rewards also have this promo for Juice Works: buy any drink of Power size and get a Midi size Lychee Cooler for free. Of course we wouldn't let go of this awesome deal, haha.

And then, we saw this.

Vintage Ear Hook!

Fell in love almost immediately but guess what, I didn't buy. Not upon seeing it. It was only after 300 ended before 자기야 dragged me back to the same shop as it was closing and bought it for me. He said it would be my belated White Day pressie. Aww.. how sweet. Hehe.

Wore it out the next day and I love love it!

And this summed up my weekend date :D Thank you 자기야 for being so patient with me and pamperin me as always. Days automatically become brighter when you are with me.

Love you

Once Upon A Time We Flew A Kite

Weekends have finally came to a bore for us, we were kinda sick and tired of the usual shop and eat routine so we did somethin out of the ordinary! At least that was the case for us, in the six months we are together.

FINALLY I got to fly a kite after what seemed like forever. A lil bit of history; The one and only time I flew a kite was when I was in primary school, if my old-aging memory do not fail me. After that I did not get to do that anymore. When I got together with my first ex, I always passed by this place called the Kepong Metropolitan Park whereby alot of people have their kite flying experiences. And so I pestered him. And bugged him. And pestered him. And failed. End of story.

When I got together with my second ex, again, we used to pass by that place alot because he stayed around that area too. Pester again I did. Bugged again. Failed again. Finale. Hate empty promises.

And so I decided 자기야 is the best! Because he always keep his promises, as simple as that. Aza aza fighting baby! Extra brownie points for you hehe.

EJace's Thread of the Day #etotd: GEEK Singlet; H&M Tote Bag; Nerd Glasses

Geeky us for the day!

Selfies in the car while on the way to the park. I m a drama queen :P

자기야 has actually been there before, with his friends so we went there just armed with bottles of water and no kite lol. He said there will be lots of kites selling there so we could just grab one at the park itself.

Our kite! Oh well, technically it is MY kite, judging from the bright colours and cute design. Haha.

One with the cute kite and braided fringe which enhanced my HUGE forehead though I love the braid lots :(

Okay now I have a confession to make. Kite flying is NOT fun at all. Not when you have a male chauvinist as a boyfriend. You will literally be like his maid, running around assisting him while he flies the kite. HMPH.  After that overwhelming experience, I gave 자기야 a good scolding before he promised to bring me there again and let me fly the kite without a single interruption from him. So I win, like always. HAHA.

"Imagination is the highest kite one can fly.
Throw your dreams into space like a kite,
and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life,
a new friend, a new love or a new country"

And this ends our kite flying journey. Till then, x!

Felicia

Met up with Felicia today. She came all the way from Perling to come and fetch me. The journey normally takes around 30 minutes. That was just so sweet of her. We went all the way to City Square, a.k.a CS, coz it has really been very long time since I stepped into the shoppin centre. Just wanna see if there's any changes. Reminded of the times in high school where we used to love hangin out there coz it's very near to Convent, just one short bus trip.

We just simply walked around. Not much changes I would say and as usual, nothin much to shop. So we decided to find a place to relax and chat. We set our mind on Baskin Robbins and had their ice-cream fondue with hazelnut chocolate dip. Yummy =D We just sat there chattin bout lots of things, from studies to life to relationships. Never endin. Hehe. All the while enjoyin the delicious fondue. Then at around 6pm, we made our way to Yen Lin's grilled fish (ikan bakar) stall to meet up with Huey Tyng and Sok Yin. I had missed her ikan bakar and ice kacang. They are still that great. Thanks Fel, for bringin me out today =)

The delicious ice-cream fondue =)

Connected

Watched the Hong Kong movie, Connected in Pavilion today. I believe I m really beginnin to fall seriously in love with the cinema there =) It's so spacious as compared to others. Okay, back to the movie. I think the movie is good, though it only focused on communication between two strangers but the intensity was just as great. Apparently, it was remake of an American movie but I have not seen the movie before. Overall, I enjoyed the movie. What's there to complain about when there was a hunk actin in it?? Haha. Here's a lil details on the movie.

Connected (traditional Chinese: 保持通話; simplified Chinese: 保持通话; pinyin: Bao chi tong hua; Cantonese Yale: Bo chi tung wah; Literal title: Maintain the telephone conversation) is a 2008 Hong Kong action-crime thriller film directed by Benny Chan. It is the first Chinese-language film to remake an American film, as it is a remake of the 2004 American thriller Cellular. The film stars Louis Koo as a man who receives a distressing phone call on his cellular phone from a young woman (Barbie Hsu) who has been kidnapped. Both lead actors shot their scenes separately, only sharing one scene together.

Louis Koo (古天樂) plays Bob, a debt collector, and single father whose life has fallen apart after his wife leaves him and her son behind.

Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛) plays Grace Wong, the female protagonist who is kidnapped. Grace is a widowed single mother, who owns a successful toy designing company. Hsu, a Taiwanese actress who appears in her first Hong Kong film, commented on her character: “The character I play is a victim throughout. After being kidnapped and imprisoned, she even has to witness someone being killed. It’s all very frightening. Yet, I like this character a lot because she manages to piece together a shattered phone to make a call, under such difficult circumstances.

Liu Ye (劉燁) plays a Kidnapper with a hidden agenda.

Nick Cheung (張家輝) plays Detective Fai, a low-ranking police officer in Hong Kong's Serious Crime Division.

Flora Chan (陳慧珊) plays Jeanie, Bob's sister, who plans on leaving him with his son.

Carlos Chan (陳嘉樂) plays Roy, Grace's brother

Ken Hung (洪卓立) plays Ho, Roy's classmate.

Fan Siu-Wong (樊少皇) plays the Kidnapper's Henchman

Gong Beibi (龔蓓苾) plays Fai's wife in a cameo appearance.

Cheung Siu-Fai (張兆輝) as Fai's distrustful superior.

Money No Enough 2

Went shoppin at Pavilion with Karen today. Ever since the other time when we shopped in Pavilion, we realised that we have fallen in love with this new shoppin paradise. Hehe. Not that we can afford the stuffs here, just like the ambience and the feel of it. We intended to catch a movie and we decided on Money No Enough 2, a Singaporean movie directed by Jack Neo. I have watched the first part quite many years ago so don't really remember what was it about except the main point of the movie, not enough money. We went for our lunch cum dinner first as there was still some time before the movie started.

Had our meal at this restaurant called Crystal Jade. Overall, the food was just okay. Ambience was nice though. After dinner, window shopped for some time before headin to the theater. I must say the movie was damn good!! Extremely touchin. I m no stranger when it comes to cryin in the cinema. I will cry naturally when it comes to certain touchin scenes in any movies, even cartoons. Imagine that. I won't really cry too long though, will stop once those scenes are over. But for this movie, I actually could not stop cryin for almost half an hour!! From the moment the children started to ignore the mum till the moment when the mum died, just so that her granddaughter could live. So much for a mum/grandmother's sacrifices. At first I thought I would stop cryin after a few minutes, but the tears just flowed freely. Could not help it. Guess I m an emotional freak. Thank God the cinema was kinda empty. Hehe.

Once out of the cinema, I kept askin Karen if I was lookin really dreadful and she actually asked me if she is a person of no feelin. All because she did not cry and that she felt those scenes were just normal. Erm.. I really did not know how to answer her. Hehe. Even now when i replayed those touchin scenes in my mind, I believe with high possibility I will start cryin again..

Money No Enough 2 (simplified Chinese: 钱不够用二)is a Singaporean film written and directed by Jack Neo and produced by Neo Studios, Mediacorp Raintree Pictures and Scorpio EastPictures.
Ten-years since the first Money No Enough, local celebrity auteur Jack Neo’s Money No Enough 2 returns to bring attention to the common man’s life in Singapore where the pursuit of money is a never ending passion. It is the filmmaker’s wish that Money No Enough 2, through the ups and downs faced by the three Yang brothers, help us to reflect at our own priorities while giving us a chance to laugh at ourselves.

The story revolves around three brothers from a middle-income background in contemporary Singapore. These are characters who are representative of the business owners, white and blue collar workers of Singaporeans.

The oldest brother Yang Bao Hui (by Henry Thia) represents the lower income group. As a child, Hui left school at an early age to earn money to help support his poverty stricken family. He has been working as a delivery man in the same company for the last 30 years. At the persuasion of his younger brother, he strikes out as an entrepreneur to sell health supplements. As business improves, he quits his dead-end job and puts all his time into the business. Unfortunately the business is forced to a standstill when the health supplement is deemed unsafe for public consumption, which inadvertently brings Bao Hui close to financial ruin.

The second brother Yang Bao Qiang (by Jack Neo) portrays a well-heeled successful businessman. As the owner of his own business, he and his wife flaunts their wealth in typical Singaporean fashion, with designer clothes, a flashy car and a big house to put it all in. However in a moment of greed, he allows himself to be cheated out of his fortune and gets into a very difficult financial situation.

The youngest brother Yang Bao Huang (by Mark Lee) represents the ordinary middle working class. He earns a good salary working as a regional supervisor for a health supplement trading company, and spends lavishly to maintain his ‘wannabe’ lifestyle. When the health supplement business goes bust, debts pile up and Bao Huang too, faces financial ruin.

As the winds of fortune changes, the brother’s begin to neglect their elderly mother. It was easy to be generous and filial during the good times but when household budgets tighten, what is the cost of true filial piety? Even the most basic arrangements, including whom mom should stay with, become a contentious issue.

Poh Keong

Poh Keong, a.k.a PK finally reappeared after disappearin for 3 months. Well.. his usual excuse is "I m too busy. Sorry." Lame. Just jokin =P I understand coz I was just as busy as well for the past three months =) He drove his new car to fetch me and he actually told me I was his first passenger. I only found out about it when I realised that he was so not used to the car, as though it was the first time he is drivin it despite havin it at home for a few days already. Hehe. Unbelievable. Actually there was a reason for me bein his first passenger. Before he got his new car, he has promised me that I will be the first person in his car. I've almost forgotten bout this promise of his but he didn't. And that's just so sweet =)

We went to One Utama (he just love that place and keep claimin it as his own place) for dinner as well as movie. It has become a usual routine for us to have dinner and movie whenever we go out together. We always have trouble decidin what to eat. He wanted to have somethin special today and he asked me to decide as it was my day. Huh?? That was what exactly what I replied him. He said today's date was to make up for the birthday celebration which he did not give me. (a lil recap for everyone: he has forgotten my birthday) So, instead of Friday's which he felt was kinda ordinary already (we had Friday's for his birthday), we opted for somethin else. We had wanted to try out the Japanese cuisine which I think was newly-opened but the queue was too long and we had a movie to catch =( We were walkin aimlessly before we chanced upon this Japanese Plus One Shabu-Shabu Restaurant and decided to try it.

Shabu-shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ, , also spelled syabu-syabu?) is a Japanese variant of hot pot. The dish is related to sukiyaki in style, where both use thinly sliced meat and vegetables, and usually served with dipping sauces. However, it is starkly different in taste; shabu-shabu is more savory and less sweet than sukiyaki. It is considered a winter dish but is eaten year-round.

PK chose the beef set as he knows that I loved eatin beef (it's my day afterall =P) There were a vast variety of dippin sauces for us to choose. We are free to choose the base for the soup as well. It was a nice food experience for the both of us =) We watched the movie starrin Adam Sandler, "You Don't Mess With The Zohan". Erm.. I couldn't give much comment on the movie. But I wondered when Adam Sandler got his hot bod. Hehe.

You Don't Mess with the Zohan is a 2008 American comedy film, directed by Dennis Dugan and starring Adam Sandler. The film is about Zohan Dvir (Hebrew : זוהאן דביר), Israel's hero and its greatest counter-terrorism army commando who, after growing tired of his Israeli post-draft's standing service, fakes his own death in order to pursue his dream: becoming a hairstylist in New York City.

The movie begins with Zohan Dvir (Adam Sandler), a Mossad agent, hanging around at the Tel Aviv beach, attracting several women and capturing the attention of every beach-goer with his Hacky Sack prowess including a clumsy Fizzy Bubelech drinker. Then the film goes to his vacation in Eilat where he cooks fish in the nude (using copious amounts of hummus) for himself, his friend and several women. His party favor, catching the fish between the cheeks of his buttocks. As he finishes cooking, an Israeli Defence Forces helicopter arrives, stealing him away from his presumed well-earned vacation.

During a subsequent briefing, Zohan expresses his displeasure about having his vacation cut short. After being heckled by his officer, he eventually agrees to do yet another mission of recapturing a key Palestinian terrorist, the "Phantom" (John Turturro), who had been freed by the Israeli government in exchange for a captured Mossad agent, plus an additional "to-be-named-later" spy. Later, as Zohan expresses his desire to leave Israel and become a hairdresser in New York City, his wishes are met with laughter by his mother and his father, who had fought in Israel's Six-Day War.

The disgruntled Zohan fakes his own death during the pursuit of the Phantom, who is tricked into believing he had killed Zohan. Zohan smuggles himself into a flight to New York City in a pet crate of two dogs named Scrappy and Coco. Changing his hairstyle into a 1980s Paul Mitchell's Avalon style and taking "Scrappy Coco" as a new alias, he sets out to pursue his dreams in the Big Apple.

Initially unsuccessful in getting hired at an upscale Paul Mitchell salon (as well as an African American salon and a children's salon), Zohan's military expertise earns him a new friend, Michael (Nick Swardson), who gives him a place to stay, though Michael feels uncomfortable with Zohan's sexual activities with Michael's mother, Gail (Lainie Kazan). Zohan's passion for disco (Discothèques) runs him into a fellow Israeli named Oori (Ido Mosseri), a Zohan fan who is aware of Scrappy Coco's true identity but agrees to keep it a secret. Oori introduces him to a block in lower Manhattan filled with Middle Eastern Americans, who are split between a Palestinian side and an Israeli side of the street.

Zohan attempts to land a job in a struggling salon of a Palestinian woman named Dalia (Emmanuelle Chriqui). After first only allowing the ostentatious Zohan to sweep floors for free, she eventually allows him to be a stylist after he pleases a senior lady with a satisfactory haircut and back room sexual service. Zohan's reputation spreads instantly among the elder women of lower Manhattan, who comment that "besides the sex, he gives a pretty good haircut." Dalia's business booms, upsetting Walbridge (Michael Buffer), a corporate magnate who has been trying to force out all the local tenants on the block so that he may build a huge mall. Zohan brags to his colleague Claude (Alec Mapa) that he has a big one, which is understood as big p***s, but he meant big amount of pubic hair.

Eventually Zohan is identified by a Palestinian cab driver named Salim (Rob Schneider), whose goat Zohan had stolen after Salim threw his shoe at Zohan and spit in his face. Salim convinces his friends to help him exact revenge on Zohan. He rebuffs their advice to "let the professionals" take care of it because Salim wants the glory of killing Zohan for himself. He and his friends decide to build a bomb, but they are unsure how to do so. Thinking that they need "chemicals," Salim and his friends walk into a pharmacy and try to ask for Liquid Nitrogen. Hearing Salim's mispronunciation, the pharmacist instead presents Salim with Neosporin. Seeing that the Neosporin doesn't destroy Zohan's workplace, Salim reluctantly informs Phantom through a Hezbollah hotline. Now a successful fastfood chain owner, Phantom then pays a visit to New York to hunt Zohan down.

Meanwhile, Zohan realizes that he has fallen in love with Dalia when he discovers that he has unexplainable erectile dysfunction except in her presence. However, Dalia rejects Zohan's feelings for her after he reveals he was formerly an Israeli counter-terrorist operative. Zohan decides to leave Dalia and confront the Phantom in a Hacky Sack game. His fight is cut short with sudden news of the Middle Eastern block being attacked by racist white arsonist rednecks dressed in Arabic clothing, the leader of them being played by Dave Matthews. (The arsonists are hired by Walbridge to instigate an inter-ethnic riot between the Israelis and Palestinians and hopefully allow him to take over their stores more easily.)

As Zohan and Phantom are working together to save the block, Dalia appears, revealing that she is the Phantom's sister – or "Fattoush" as she calls him. Zohan's personal dossier allows him to discover the arsonists' true identities as rednecks hired by Walbridge. Zohan and Phantom lead the united Israelis and Palestinians of the block to save their shops, defeating the rednecks, thwarting Walbridge's plans, and damaging all of the shops on the block, as well as Walbridge's female companions' breast implants, by using "The Sound" which is a combination of stereotypical Arabic rhythmic calling and stereotypical Hebrew "chhhh" sounds. The police arrive to arrest Walbridge for his crimes.

With the Israelis and the Palestinians united, the block is transformed into a collectively-owned mall, in which Zohan and Dalia realize their dream, opening a joint beauty parlor. The Phantom also fulfills his lifelong passion of opening up a shoe store. The movie ends happily as Zohan's parents approve of his new wife (Dalia) and hair salon, called "Dalohan," becoming customers themselves in a surprise visit.

After the movie, we had wanted to drop by the McDonald's nearby my place for ice-cream but so unfortunately, there was no ice-cream available =( We then chatted for a while before he sent me back home. All in all, I enjoyed today, all thanks to PK =D

Jerry

Went out with Jerry a.k.a Chee Hoe today. Jerry is a friend known through Joel. He is Joel's best bud. A nice friend who never fails to offer me realistic advices whenever I tend to daydream. Hehe. Glad that I got him as a friend and though me n Joel did not manage to work out, Jerry and I are still good friends =)

He has just returned from his work trip from China and he promised me souvenirs!! That's why I went out with him. Lol. Just kiddin =P We met up at around 2 plus and being the road id**t that he is (that's a known fact to us =P), I was so afraid that he could not find my place. Haha. Luckily he managed to.

However, he was still one blur guy coz he forgot to bring out my gifts when he came to fetch me. So we had to go back to his place (luckily not that far as he stays in Selayang) to take the souvenirs meant for me. He bought me one of the Beijing Olympic Mascot plus a handphone keychain. The red coloured one. Did not request him to buy that colour for me but ended up he did. I was so thrilled as it was exactly what I wanted. Haha. That is what we called fate. It is so meant to be mine =)

In the end, we had our lunch cum conversation at a cafe in Selayang Mall. Stayed there chattin till around 5 plus then we left. Not knowin where to head to after that as it was the eve of National Day and there were bound to be traffic jams everywhere especially in town, we decided that he send me back home. This meetin up was a great one n I really look forward to the next one if only he's willin to sacrifice his precious time to meet me. Busy guy.. Sigh sigh. Hehe.

Outing

Met up for lunch in One Utama with Sok Ling, Winnie, Quek, Lina and Huey Tyng. We had our meal in Canton-i, a subsidiary of Dragon-i. Most of us had wanton mee and Sok Ling ordered a basket of piggies bun with red bean fillings. Unfortunately we did not manage to capture any pictures of the food.

Sok Ling had also given me a belated birthday gift. Thanks lots dear =) Love it. Hehe.

The Birthday Gift from ESL. So Girlish but I love it, obviously =)

After lunch, met up with Poh Keong a.k.a PK for a movie. We watched Hancock, a movie which he has been dyin to watch.

It was not bad, though a lil fake. Guess all superheroes movies are like that, aren't they? PK bought me a belated birthday gift as well =) Oh.. Did I mention that he actually forgotten my birthday?? So heartless of him. Sob sob =( However after seein the cuteness of his gift and the beautiful packagin, I might consider forgivin him. Hehe.

Smile =) ( It's in pink too!! Hehe)

He refused to let me take his pic coz he felt that his face was too "burned" after being the referee for a basketball tournament earlier in the day. Anyway, I still managed to force him to say "cheese" =P
